1948 Chevrolet 5500 in Ojai

1948 Chevrolet 5500 truck in Ojai -- This one wasnt cranking, we found a failed battery that wouldnt hold a charge. This one has a 6 volt system as opposed to modern 12v systems. We replaced the battery, and cleaned all the connections from the battery to the starter. Still wouldnt crank, but would free spin when the contacts were shorted.

Removing the spark plugs did make it crank the engine, so its just a weak starter. 2 options, a rebuilt starter or disassemble the old one and pay some attention to the commutator. Customer is opting for a rebuilt one which is several weeks out, more to come on this!
